Hi everyone
I'm interested to know, is the any option to forbid users from download video file. I installed coppermine gallery and right now anyone can right click -> copy the direct url -> paste it in the internet browser and save the video in his PC. I tried to disable the right click, but there is an easy way to pass it and cancle this (and by the way it works just in IE and not in mozilla, opera ect). Please help me solve this problem so I can use and publish the gallery in my site.
Thank you
Mordi

Not really. It lies in the nature of the internet that stuff you view in your browser already exists on the hard-drive of the client. The only option would be streaming, but you probably don't have the required server resources.

Can you give more details about streaming? I'm not familiar with streaming
Thank you

You won't be able to use streaming, as it requires server-sided resources that you definitely don't have with your regular webhosting. I suggest forgetting about that. If you need it, google for that or ask your webhost for support.

Therefore I understand that if I publish the video in the gallery anyone can download it (right click -> properties -> copy the url -> paste it in the browser - > save it to the PC) and there is no way that I can block users from download it.  I'll continue to look for an answer since I know there is an answer for that. For example look at this link

http://www.roughneckcity.com/Forklift_Training_Video.html

It is almost impossible to download the video files from there.

anyway

Yeah, I agree that it's hard to steal videos from that site - I can't even view them.

Yha I know. There is a way to download it but it difficult and that is way I want to use this video streaming. Is it pussible?

mordidomi

You know what - I have ana idea (or maybe a challange for you all). If it was possible to cancle the right click so the users won't be able to enter properties and copy the url it was grate. this must be build in the gallery and not at the site. Can someone tell me if this idea is good enough or is it possible at all.
Thank you

Disabling the right-click is not an option. Has been suggested many times over - many other people have had this bright idea as well. It's not an option. If you must have a script that disables right-clicks, then search the board for previous discussions.
If you're afraid that people will steal your videos, then don't publish them on the internet.
