Having trouble importing old 1.3 data in to new 1.4

I've switched managed host services and both provide coppermine galleries. The new host however uses 1.4 and the old host used 1.3. I've been trying to import the old backup, but the fields etc. are totally different. Does anyone have some suggestions on how best to do this? I've tried renaming all the old tables to match the new table names and some work, but some don't. Is there a workable way to import the raw data from a 1.3 to 1.4 if they are on totally different servers?

Don't use the pre-made setups offered by your webhost, but install/upgrade by yourself as suggested in our docs. There are detailed instructions how to accomplish this.
