phpBB2 & Coppermine 1.4 - can't log in to CPM

I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and phpBB2:
The bridge was first installed about 6 months ago - it has always worked perfectly.  The site's administrator now finds that she can't log in to Coppermine.  I don't believe any changes have been made to the site at all.  Here's what happens:

Log in to phpBB2 at http://wynnechapter8bk/phpBB2/    (use login id rich, pwd rich),  click on the "Photo Gallery" link in the menu and you get transferred to Coppermine but you're not logged in.  There's no apparent way to log in to Coppermine. I haven't disabled / re-enabled bridging - since I'm nervous about messing up the existing data.

Your forum's cookie path should be set to '/' in phpbb config. Clear your cookies after making the change.

That's a good start - I can now log in to Coppermine.  However, If I log in to phpBB2 and then click on the "Photo Gallery" site I still get transferred to CPG - but not logged in (however - at least I can then log in manually to CPG).

One thought.... the whole site runs in a subdomain (although my web hosting company kindly make that transparent). I notice that when I go to the home page at http://www.wynnechapter8bk.com and then click the link to the message Board the URL shows as the full sub-domain (http://wynne.mypogospace.com) - Would that make a difference ?  I've been meaning to fix that anyway - it's presumably something to do with phpBB2.
