Is IPTC info only read when an image is first uploaded or is it dynamic ? I want change a bunch of IPTC info in my albums but the initial test I did doesn't seem to be transferring the new info. I put some text into an IPTC "Caption" field on a stored image, ftp'd it to my album, in config I have "Read IPTC" button selected, no existing Title info is attached to the image, but when I view it the IPTC "Caption" does not appear as the title.

Related to this, am I looking at the correct fields ? does "caption" map to title and in which case which IPTC tag maps to "description" ?

Thanks, Andrew

Nibbler

IPTC info is displayed in 2 ways I think. When you upload the pic it maps

'Object Name' => Coppermine title
'Caption/Abstract' => Coppermine caption/description
'Keywords' => Coppermine keywords

Then when you view the file there is additional IPTC info displayed (along with any EXIF info).

(I've never used it myself, I'm just reading the code)

Thanks Nibbler. So I experimented further:

IPTC Headline => CPG Title
IPTC Caption => Description

.. but the bit that sucks is that it seems that IPTC info is only read into the database when the image is first uploaded. Seems that this would be a good admin tool "update IPTC".  So can a guru tell me if I'm missing something obvious or should this be a feature request ?

Nibbler

Request it if you like, but IPTC support is not really a priority. It's pretty much a dead format.

Static. During upload.
