As a newbie here....I like step by step instructions.

I have successfully, upgraded Coppermine following the following steps. ;D

First create another folder inside your domain, www.yoursite.com/coppermine/old_version.

Then move ALL of the old version Coppermine files into that folder.

Download cpg1414.zip to your desktop from the "Download" link on this forum.

Using FTP software such as Filezilla, upload this zip to your domain, i.e., http://www.yoursite.com/. I suggest NOT placing it in the Coppermine folder itself because when you decompress this file it will create a new folder titled "cpg1414" where all of the upgrade files will be located.

After you have decompressed, move all of the folders/files out of the "cpg1414" folder and into "Coppermine" folder.

You will then need to replace the following new/upgrade files with the same named files in your old version folder:
include(folder)/config.inc.php
anycontent.php
albums directory

Then run the file "update.php" by typing http://www.yoursite.com/coppermine/update.php into your browser.

It should show that you have updated your version and you should be able to sign in and rock n roll!

This worked for me perfectly...no other problems.

Hope this helps some other newbies.... ;)

They are not fully correct. Glad it worked for you. Thanks for your readiness to share your insight. However, the proper steps are being described in our docs. Not related to install, but upgrading - moving your thread accordingly.

Oops, one thing I left out here (I have a different them now and some mods)...

BEFORE you UPDATE.php.....copy your "old version" template folder over the new one in Coppermine directory.

That should do it...

Again, that is not correct. If you make a custom theme then you don't need to do anything special when updating. You should certainly not copy over your old themes folder.
