Page loading is very slow

Hi forum. I'm new with coppermine. I was told this was the best program on the field, but I must admit I'm a bit disappointed. It's very slow.

Loading the login page takes approximately 20-25 second. Loading an album with 5 small pictures (200-300Kb) can take up to 30 sec. It's even worse if the size of the file is above 1 mb - then it takes minutes. I'm running a forum on the same server (NAS server, apache, latest version of php and MySQL) where even a large sized pictures and huge powerpoint presentations are loaded in seconds.

From the threats I have read in the forum it seems as if there is no easy solution to this "problem", but perhaps there's something I miss in config or can it be one of the tables resulting in this bad performance.

Beside this is was very easy to install, it's userfriendly and it's a good working environment.

I don't think the problem you describe is coppermine related, as it wouldn't matter how big your images are.
This probably is the lack of bandwidth server/client side

Could be the bandwidth (normal upload is around 650 kbps) - not the fastest connection, but webpages with heavy graphics located on the same server loads easily, so....

I just tested the upload time on the local network and it's the same - even after a reboot of the server and an update of server firmware.

There is a few pictures in the album (the upload of pictures is not the issue, it's only the general browsing in the gallery)

I just found a post from Joachim M about visuals on the site. I changed the theme to Classic. It helped a bit. I was using the theme Igame. Maybe it's as you state Joachim - just a matter of bandwidth. Anyway I look forward to more comments from you (and others).
