adding new page help

I found how to add a new page within coppermine thanks to this thread
but Im having a bit of difficulties with the page layout as I am still learning php.
The starttable function is giving me the look I want but how do I get 2 tables beside each other or have some tables run the length of the page, ect.
do I just change the width %? do I need to use html to create a table then use the php starttable inside of it?
