hi,

So I am running coppermine 1.4.16 plus the last anti hack update.

today I turn on the forum and get the following message: Fatal error :

so I search around this forum and find this is not a new problem and that I need to debug the forum. Okay, no problems, I download and install the phpMyAdmin software, and get set to follow the tutorial http://coppermine-gallery.net/tutorial/debug_mode.php BUT I just get a page asking me to create configuration file. I try to do this using the setup script for phpMyAdmin but I dont understand a word of it. It assumes a level of coding knowledge I dont have. I cant move beyond this, how do I debug the forum or set up the config script etc? Can anyone help?

post a link to your gallery for a start
QuoteI download and install the phpMyAdmin software
you  must not install them, go to your stabase management panel (on your webhost) and mofify the cpg_config table as shown by the tutorial
Avez vous lu la DOC ? la FAQ ? et cherché sur le forum avant de poster ?
Did you read the DOC ? the FAQ ? and search the board before posting ?

Thanks for the reply,

Firstly the gallery is http://arc.nationalwellsindex.org.uk

Secondly, whats a stabase management panel? I am a little lost.

rik_na

ahh okay I am being a bit of a fool

So the phpMyAdmin does not need to be installed because it is pre-installed in Cpanel, if you are using this content management system. So for those of you who wonder, and who are using cpanel, you might as I did, find this in the bottom line of the 'MySQL® Databases' in cpanel theme X v2.6.0.

Now I will run the tutorial and see what happens.

Right so I have been through the tutorial and nothing has changed. I still cant acess the cpg install even in debug mode. What am I missing?

A response just in from the WH company says as follows (sorry if I am not supposed to post this, I did not read anything against it in the T&C's):

I have updated the permissions of the site, if I tried to browse a different folder I would get a 500 error.  However, I still get the Fatal error: on the page.  The code is supposed to append the error message to this, but it appears the event that is causing this does not have a message defined.  There are no PHP or Apache errors, so the permissions are correct and PHP is processing the scripts without issue, just the logic in the script is not working properly. You will need to contact Coppermine for support in debugging the script.

Your gallery is not in debug mode. Make sure you followed the tutorial correctly and are modifying the right database and table.

hi, so I followed the following whilst re. the tutorial http://coppermine-gallery.net/tutorial/debug_mode.php:

I followed the URL from Cpanel which went straight to phpmyadmin.
I have two databases, I select the NWI one which is so named from the pulldown list. This is the only copp db.
I only have one cpg_config file, so I click on it.
I browse the config table structure.
I scroll down to debug mode and edit it
The value is already 1 from the time I changed it the last time I went through this process so I know it has been saved.

Yet the cpg install is still not accessible in debug mode. I dont think I missed out any steps from the tutorial?

rik_na

I have done the phpmyadmin process again and again and at no point can I access my archive to debug it and I dont understand why. Does it matter for example that I am using phpmyadmin 2.11.4 and the tutorial is 2.5.5. Any information would be appreciated.

Nibbler

Doesn't matter. If you are happy to PM me an temporary FTP account for the gallery then do so.

rik_na

hi, ftp account setup and Pm'd. Many thanks for doing this.

Right so nothing worked re. getting this site to work. So I deleted the install of coppermine.

So far so good. I then go to reinstall coppermine on the same sub domain and I get exactly the same message: fatal error. So it appears that coppermine which has worked on this sub domain okay, now just cannot be run. As there is no way to debug the install because the phpmyadmin access point does not work, and no specific error message, I have no idea why this install does not work. Any ideas?
