[Closed]: Not giving me option to apply to all

Hi, I've set all my "albums" and "images" permissions to 777 like it says in the tutorial, but I don't then get the popup box it tells me I should - the one which says "apply to all files and folders". My host DOES support php, so any idea why I can't set this?

Does this mean it won't work?

As suggested in the tutorial "Download, unpack, upload", the look of your FTP client may differ. There's no guarantee that it will look exactly like the output shown in the tutorial. The tutorial is just meant to give you an idea what to do - the actual reference is the documentation, section Setting permissions. Do as suggested there. If you have questions related to permissions, don't ask us, as we don't know your webserver setup nor your FTP client. Ask your webhost instead. This is being explained in detail in the docs.

When dealing with permissions on folder/file level it's irrelevant wether your webhost supports PHP - those two things are not related. It's like saying "my car can go 100 miles per hour, but how can I cook coffee?". Although you can drink coffee in your car and although your car will bring you to many places where coffee is being sold, both issues are unrelated. Your car vendor can't tell you how to make coffee nor will the brand of coffee you drink have an impact on the max speed of your car.

Thanks. I especially appreciate the coffee analogy - simplistic yet helpful! I included the PHP comment because the last time I asked on here why I couldn't set permissions (different account, long story) the first question I got asked by everyone was "does your host support PHP?"

I therefore assumed this to be somehow relevant.
