I hope this is the right forum.
My problem is that my host has corrupted my old database. They actually made a post about it here (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,54516.0.html). My host uses a tech who does the backups for them. I have no idea what they're doing, but they keep messing with it and now the original database error isn't there anymore.

They managed to repair their last database for me - December 2007. However, I was running an old version of coppermine back then, version 1.3.2. In April 2008 I upgraded the gallery to the 1.4.18 version.

Now my question is if it is possible to install the old database to the new gallery or a new install of coppermine? I'm a novice at this and do not know if this is possible or if it has anything to do with it, but I'd really love to give it a try, as the gallery held 54000 images in August and I'd like to at least keep some of the remaining album structures.

Do you have all the files matching that last database? eg  your include/config.inc.php file, your anycontent.php file and your "albums" directory.

If so follow the upgrade instructions here.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I don't, since the upgrade was already performed :(

Nibbler

Just run update.php. That will update the database to the current version.

What I meant was, do you still have all the pictures in your albums folder? Hopefully your host has left you with those.

Hey guys,

I did have all the pictures in the album folders, thankfully. They got a technician to fix the database part that was still working. I upgraded the gallery to the latest version and re added all the rest myself, so this is closed. If anybody worries, it is possible to use an "old" database with a never version of coppermine, by running the update.php like Nibbler said.

Thanks :)
