How do I fix this error? I.e., how do I add EXIF support to PHP?

I'm a debian (mostly stable) user.

Full message is:

PHP running on your server does not support reading EXIF data in JPEG files, please turn this off on the config page.

Obviously, I don't want to turn it off.

Coppermine seems to be working fine otherwise... I can upload photos and move them around.

I have "php4" installed, as well as "jhead" and "exif" packages.

Weird. I searched on "exif" on both the new and the old boards, and it returned no results.

Looks like the easiest thing might be to try the beta.  (No idea where to get a deb with support compiled in.)

Thanks.
