Hi

I would like a page that appears when the user logs in onto the nav bar and is protected by the  CPG password system from prying eyes.

How?

Please search the board and read the documentation. It has been asked and answered many times before.

Something like http://coppermine-gallery.com/forum/index.php/topic,50028.0.html should do the trick. As Hein suggested: searching the board usually helps, as this has been asked and answered pretty often already.
