Increase amount of text in the description field?

Is it possible to increase the amount of text that can be put into the description field for the images?  If so, how can I go about it?

I went into the cpg_pictures table and changed the caption field from a "TEXT" field to a "LONGTEXT" field.

Hopefully that won't cause me problems down the road.
