I have installed CPG all for free on freeserverhost.com. I have only used it for about a week but no problems at all so far.
They give you one database and 100mb space. Pretty reasonable for nothing!

if i use tripod for website and coppermine as photoballery will it be free

This thread is meant to give recommendations for free webhosts that fulfill coppermine's minimum requirements. It is not meant to ask questions on webhost x, y or z. You can't run Coppermine on Tripod, as they inject ads into the output that will break Coppermine's functionality, so the short answer to your question is: yes, tripod webhosting is free, but you can't use it to host coppermine.

Sniffy

Over all the stuff here, I still can't find anything I need. 50free looks really good but it's currently down. Can anybody help?
I am a newbie.

loubymar

Your not alone! lol none of these are free or they just don't work, or u can't sign up   :-\

Surprisingly, free webhosting doesn't offer the same quality paid webhosting offers ::). Everybody who is using paid webhosting would be an idiot if the same amount of service was available for free as well.
Bottom line: you're welcome to try to find a free webhost that has the requirements to run coppermine. After having tried to find a decent free one, go for paid webhosting - it's very cheap these days. If you can't afford that, you don't need a web page of your own imo. Simply share your pics on Flickr then, or share your videos on youtube. Being too poor to be able to afford webhosting is nonsense (at least in western countries): one month of webhosting costs less than one burger at your favorite fast food chain.
I'm not an expert on free webhosting, but  as far as I understand there is only a very limited number of free webhosts available in the long run: free.fr (French webhost with French user interface only) appear to be OK, and maybe funpic.org as well. Not sure about their availability in the long run.
Tripod and Angelfire definitely can't be used with Coppermine.

loubymar

ok thanks, i just uploadin coppermine onto funpic.org, see it works on there.  ;)

some people don't have enough money to use a paid webhosting service.

could be good make a list with tested by the users hostings providers.

here is my test.

http://www.tripod.lycos.es
supported (with GD)
size: 50 MB
language: spanish

http://www.miarroba.com
unsupported (GD disabled)

If people don't have the price of a peanut butter sandwich to spend each month on hosting...  How can they afford a camera to take pictures ?

Nowadays there are so many web host claiming to be free but there aren't. A really free web host must have these characteristics:
- no catches, no setup fees, no forced advertising, no banners, no popups and no hidden charges
- allow you to setup every kind of website (personal, e-commerce, forums...) except illegal ones of course
- allow you to keep your hosting account as long as you wish.

I've tried so many (more than 200) and they don't deserve to be called free. But I never give up. Finally I've found a real one, and
since 18 months they've been hosting my three e-commerce website without any problem. These are their features:

* 350 MB Disk Space
* 100 GB Data Transfer
* cPanel Control Panel
* Website Builder
* 5 MySQL Databases
* PHP mail() function and Sendmail
* Curl, GD2 library, ImageMagick
* safe_mode  OFF, file uploads ON
* Zend Optimizer support, Ioncube loader.. and much more features are enabled
* Unrestricted PHP5 support of course
* Instant Setup with more than 40 popular scripts: Drupal, Geeklog, Joomla, Xoops, WordPress, b2evolution, Support Logic Helpdesk, phpBB2, SMF, OS Commerce, ViPER Guestbook, Coppermine Photo Gallery, PhpWiki, PHPauction, WebCalendar and more.
* 100% of satisfaction

I wish you success in all your initiatives. God bless you!

Really? Who makes up those rules? What do such super-webhosts get in return for their free webhosting then if they're not even allowed to advertize a little bit for their paid services? Who pays their servers? Who pays their traffic? Who pays their staff? Imo you have strange ideas about this business or you're not an actual user of the company you're trying to promote, but you're actually affiliated with them. You're redirecting to some kind of affiliate page, so stop it, will you? According to the home page of 000webhost.com, they only earn money from user donations, which I find hard to believe, as freed webhosting in this case tastes more like "free beer" than "freedom of speech".
Since we can't prove one thing or the other, let's not argue here, but leave it as it is: people who review this thread are welcome to make up their minds about this super-webhost...
You already had the previous posting in this thread - don't double-post! We have heard you.

Nibbler

I signed up to test. They seem to make money from donations and upgrades to premium accounts (a rather dubious claim of unlimited disk space and transfer for $5 per month). There is tracking/stats code appended to the page but no advertising. The only limitations I can see are an upload limit of 2MB and no ImageMagick support (exec() is disabled). Memory limit is 32M and max_execution_time is cut to 10 seconds which may affect things like batch add and admin tools. It meets the minimum requirements for Coppermine and is probably fine for low traffic galleries. Server is at HostNOC in Scranton, PA (USA). My test site is at http://nibbler.net78.net/. The MySQL server seems to be overloaded however, only static pages are responsive at the time of posting.

This affiliate program of this crappy 000webhost.com is driving me nuts: every now and then some jerk turns up and tries to earn a few bucks by promoting this crappy free webhost by dropping "his" affiliate link.
Let it end now: further ads for 000webhost.com are forbidden from now on. I will ban everybody instantly who promotes this webhosting site and will delete the advert at once.
Additionally, I have added 000webhost.com to the stop words.

Joachim Müller

Yet another silly person ("Mishel") has dropped his unwanted advert for the webhost I have refered to above. His posting was deleted. Go ahead and drop more silly stuff. Your ads get deleted faster than you can post them. Silly postings shine back on you.
