I scanned a bunch of very old photos that were so old that they were severely faded.  Though faded, the scanned images were still usable and the images contained in each could be discerned.  When I uploaded these photos to my Coppermine installation and created an album, the thumbnails are all but washed out and practically unusable BUT if you click on the thumbnail to go to a larger image size, the larger size is fine.

Why would this happen and is it possible to fix the thumbnails.  I think that very view people would bother to click on a thumbnail if it were so poor in quality...they would probably think the larger size would be the same.

Thanks.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

You are using GD1. Switch to GD2 or Imagemagick and rebuild your images using admin tools.
