Additionally, please upgrade to the leatest release ( currently 1.4.27 ) as this is a security update. This might be a good time to upgrade to 1.5.x where you will have more control. Please see this thread regarding the end of support for the 1.4.x line - http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,66659.0.html
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
