Transfering files from another website directory?

I set up Coppermine on my website just a short while ago using my hosting service's install utility, and I've just registered here a few minutes ago.  So I have zero experience so far with Coppermine.

My question is a simple one: I have a lot of files already located in a directory at my website.  Is it possible to tell Coppermine somehow to retrieve them from this directory?  I've looked through the admin area, including a list of plugins, and can't seem to find anything that would indicate that this is possible.  But I figure it never hurts to ask, so I'm a askin'.
