Support for cpg1.3.x is running out, we strongly encourage everybody to upgrade to the most recent stable version of coppermine.

Edit 2006-10-01:
Support for cpg1.3.x has finally run out. Please read this entire thread for details.

Malevolentia

I have two Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.3.2: galleris and I want them to be Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.4.2 (stable) and every time I have tried to update galleries (in the past) it had never worked out even though I have gotten help and read everything. Why is it so damn hard? I have been forced to redo 20.000 photo galleries like 4 times because of this. Is it an easy way to upgrade 132 to 142? I could even pay someone to do it fo rme, lol.

I guess you're trying to use an auto-installer/updater provided by your webhost (probably Fantastico). We don't recommend doing that, as those auto-installers lag behind in versions and are known to be buggy. There's only one recommended method to update: the one outlined in the docs we provide (link at top of this page). The most recent version is cpg1.4.4, so there's little point in updating to cpg1.4.2.
Basically, you backup everything (both your files using your FTP app and your mySQL database using phpMyAdmin or similar), then you overwrite all coppermine core files with the new ones, then you run update.php and you're done.
Please keep your individual support issues to a separate thread, this one is an announcement thread - individual issues are not meant to go into it. Don't force us to lock every announcement thread down :-\.

Support for cpg1.3.x will run out by the end of September 2006. Subsequently, the cpg1.3.x support board will be locked and moved to a read-only section.
Other resources (e.g. mods written for cpg1.3.x) will be moved as well. Don't be afraid though - you will still be able to read those threads.
There will be just no active support for cpg1.3.x any longer, which means that you can't ask questions except on upgrading.
All question asked on cpg1.3.x-issues that get posted after the deadline will be moved to the outdated read-only board and go unanswered.

We strongly recommend everybody who is still running cpg1.3.x to upgrade as soon as possible.
