When I or any other admin upload an image,
no name is provided as to who uploaded it.

Where as when a user submits and I approve it when it shows up
in the recently uploaded or in that album, the name of the submitter
appears.

Tarique Sani

Not a bug - expected behaviour
SANIsoft PHP applications for E Biz

Jess

expected?

Thats what all programmers say :P

Person: "Hey Jess, why does that score go up like that, isn't that messed up?"
Me: "Oh no, its expected!" ::thinks uh oh.. gotta fix that::

Tarique Sani

Oh no! rest assured - I am not fixing that, I will hate my name showingup on 99% of the photos on the site.

If someone want then this has to be a admin settable feature - something like show name of admin users in uploaded photos - YES / NO
SANIsoft PHP applications for E Biz

Jess

Id like to see a setting where the admin's name would show up on the
images that they uploaded.

Jess

okay, so ive complained about how the admins' names wont show up
but _one_ of my moderators' name isn't showing up either.

My other moderators are showing up and this one moderator isn't
even a moderator on all the boards

ive integrated it with phpBB2

I would really appriciate it if the much needed option for admin names
to be shown on their respective uploaded picture would surface soon.

please?!

(and yes I've asked for it on the request board yesterday but this time its because of a bug I ask.)

cross-posting won't make it more likely that your problem is going to be solved. I just "caught" your last two posts that are now on this thread as standalone posts elsewhere and moved them here.

Let me tell you something about open software:
All coppermine devs work on this project in their leisure time; nobody get's paid for it. We build the software the way we want, but we're glad if we receive feature requests as a sort of feedback what people want. Of course we're trying to add the features people want to have, but we can not build all features in that are requested.
That's where other people might step in: everybody can modify the code of the software for his/her own use and is free to share his/her modifications or not (although people are of course encouraged to share).
So if someone wants to modify the software according to your request - fine! If you want to be this person, fine. If you share this with the rest of the world, fine. But you don't have a right on anything; remember: you haven't bought a copy of this software - it's free. You don't even have the right for support - we provide it because we want to.

Coppermine doesn't know about your bbs, so it doesn't know the user group "moderators" is something "special", with advanced rights (in the bbs). For Coppermine, it's just another user group, that's all. If someone on your phpBB moderator team has the right to ftp-upload to your gallery or do other "admin only"-stuff, how is coppermine to know?

In short terms: if you want the feature, you code it!

Jess

Okay number one, I am lazy. I was not cross posting with the intention that my request would be processed with haste. But I thank you for taking the time to hear me out and combine my posts.

Let me tell you something about open software:

You talk to me like I have absolutely no clue how the open software world works,
this is your first mistake, I have been working on software for years now I know exactly what its like to have no time to make somethging you really enjoy
doing thanks to demands of your time from your responsibilities

I don't need you to go off and lecture ME about how it works. I know If I want it so bad I should go off and code it, I am not demanding you do this, If I felt that I could have done it myself then I would have done it.

But I explain to you now, I have very little working knowledge of the PHP language

I fully understand you don't know every little detail of my problem nor do you have the time to go and search out for it.

But what I am trying to say, is this moderator ISN'T an admin in ANY way
even in coppermine he does not have administrator abilities,  his name
simply does not appear when he posts an image. yet an equal to him in the forum
does have her name appear. This is my problem short and sweet and I can't do anything about it and oh lordy how I tried.

Listen, I don't want to make any enemies here I just wanted some help...
No coder wants to hear people going on about the "faults" of their work
I love coppermine, thats why I chose it. Its not perfect but what is?

The reason I started that second thread about the problem is because
I saw the original thread as resolved. Being its "expected behaviour"

I made the second because I believe that it was a problem on its own.
sure its related but not exactly the same.

Now please, Id like to end this quarrel amicably with no more arguements
about the benefits and restrictions of open source, lets leave that to slashdot.

(Sorry that this post drags on and is oddly formatted.)

Joachim Müller

OK, peace - I can see your point. We'll consider this to be an admin settable option, no matter who uploaded.
