Uploading pre-tagged photos - are keywords retained

It's been a while since I've used Coppermine but it looks like I will be returning.   I've read the documentation but couldn't find the information.

When uploading photos that have already been tagged (keyworded) are the keywords also entered into the Coppermine database?
