how to display fimlstrip

hello

had to reload after really old install - update simply failed

would like to use somehting like this nifty JS filmstrip
http://gallery.josephcarver.com/natural/index.php

and most viewed

i cannot get any filmstrip do display regardless of config settings

tried using the 'curve' theme as well as the one referenced in the link above

thoughts?
