Album View Count

More of a curiosity question than an issue, but wasn't sure where else to post. What is the criteria for the album view counter to get it to change? For example, I have a photo that's been viewed 31 times but the album has only been looked at 17?

There's various ways to view a image without actually going to the album itself.  Random file view, Top rated view, Last comments etc, etc.

Opening the thumbnails.php page of an album increases the album view counter by 1.
