Cannot create Thumbnail

Hello. I installed Coppermine 1.5.x (the latest version of 1.5) and it will not let me upload. If I try to upload to any part of the gallery, it will say this in a dialog box:

Unable to Create Thumbnail/Reduce Size

Please help!
