Vids not playing

Ok I can't fathom this one...I have uploaded a couple of vids but they won't play....the player comes up ok but you press the play button and nothing...I know we used to have to use a plug in but can't find one now.  It is an .avi and I have that as a file that I can upload.

Thanks for any help...it may just be my browser...will look into that as well...but it does play for youtube and such like...

Embedded videos will be downloaded before they start to play. Your video file is 60MB, so it may take a while to load. To avoid codec issues and let videos start immediately, I suggest to convert them to flv or mp4 prior the upload and use the Flash Media Player plugin.

I will try to re encode them and install the plugin and see what happens...
