I have a club website that I want to put Coppermine on, having downloaded the latest version, I see that some people on the forums are having problems with counts not incrementing when using later version of PHP
My options are version "Native" whatever that is , V4.5 V5.2 V3 V4 and V5.4.19 installed in September any advice as to which one would be the best to use for coppermine would be appreciated
Thanks

Simply use the latest and if you run into any bugs we will do our best to help.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I'm not aware of such issues. If I remember correctly all threads regarding that issue resulted in a misunderstanding of the docs.

I suggest to use the latest version, but keep in mind that a lot of hosts are configured "incorrectly", so you maybe get some warnings regarding "strict standard". Please search our board for more information if needed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply
I installed using the latest version of PHP, no problems  or error warnings and everything works except for the visitor count,
I am not too bothered that it doesnt work as its only a small group using it.
But several months ago my main site, mareham-le-fen.co.uk was hacked after 10 years,
"a community site, which I have now moved to the same server as the club site"
when I  installed coppermine the server had not been updated to the latest PHP and coppermine works perfectly.
I will re-install coppermine and use an earlier version of PHP If this does  solves the problem I will let you know
Thanks again for yout time
has its likely that it has nothing to do with the PHP version I will mark the  topic as closed

Please post more details about your PHP version and what counter exactly doesn't work as expected.

Beekeeper

I did a clean install this morning without any problems or error message.
The problem remains
The number of album views and number of picture views  remain at zero, regardless of the number of times visited
http://www.lincolnshire-oil-engine-club.co.uk/coppic/index.php

Php version is set at 5.2
with settings of BCMATH DOM IONCUBE_LOADER JSON MBSTRING IMAP MYSQL MYSQLI PDO PDOMYSQL SOAP SQLITE

Works as expected. I viewed all of the 5 available files and the counter increased from 0 to 1. The same applies for the album.

Beekeeper

Thats strange, I have just looked and yes it has, as you say, increased by one but viewing the pictures from  my computer does not increase the number of views, does coppermine check IP address or something to prevent this from happening

I assume you browsed your gallery as admin and haven't enabled counting admin views in the config.

Beekeeper

No I was not logged in as Admin but  a short time ago a member of the club, who will be adding photos  to the albums in the future , looked at the site and his views counted OK.
So on the assumption that it must be a problem with my computer, I tried it from my old computer and it works perfectly , there must be something blocking it on my usual computer, possibly antivirus
All I can say is sorry for being a pain over this and thanks for your Help
Regards peter
