I don't know if this is a Coppermine issue or an issue with the used library (GD / ImageMagick). I haven't checked that in detail, but from my gut instincts I assume it's an issue with GD, which maybe doesn't occur with ImageMagick.

Ok, even though this topic is solved, I have another question about an issue that was brought up here.  You talked about this issue where resizing of PNGs with transparency didn't respect alpha value.  But in this album:  http://inkscapecommunity.com/ic_gallery/thumbnails.php?album=7 all those 3 images are PNG with alpha values!

Maybe it's an intermittent problem?  Sometimes happens, sometimes not?

Maybe I already fixed it and forgot to update the known issues page, I can't remember. Will perform some tests next week.

I just uploaded your "Kal-1-P.png" picture and the alpha channel is preserved for the thumbnail and the intermediate-sized picture.

From the changelogs:
Quote2009-12-11 Preserve alpha channel in png thumbnails (thread ID 62286) {eenemeenemuu}

This means the issue has been fixed before the first stable release of cpg1.5.x. Updated known issues page accordingly in SVN revision 8661. If you still have issues with transparent background for PNG and/or GIF files, please start a new thread.
