Disable showing albums/file count on main page?

After the latest upgrade it's showing all albums/files from the categories directly from the main page, which didnt used to before if that category didnt have albums

Correct. That was a 'fix' included in this release...

Fixed album and file count if category contains currently not displayed sub-categories
