Apostrophes in keywords problem

I recently downloaded the latest version of Coppermine Gallery, but I can't seem to use apostrophes in keywords. Instead of an apostrophe, I get ' instead. I found this post:

...But I'm already using v1.5.34. Is there a way to fix this at all?

How do you add those keywords? Do you add them manually or do you import them (e.g. via IPTC data)?
