upgrading from old coppermine version - can't login (not sure what v I have :(

Hi all-

Advanced apologies as I couldn't find an appropriate forum topic/thread to post this, so feel free to move, or let me know where to post etc:

i) I've installed Coppermine back in 2005-6 but not sure what version it is
ii) It does let me log in but doesn't behave as if I wasn't log in - so I can't see anything from an admin-viewpoint OR do anything! (the scary part).

What are my options? ... to:
i) log in?
ii) upgrade?
else?

Your site is running version 1.4.1(beta).  You should upgrade it to version 1.5 (1.5.40).
