Matomo isn't counting visits any more

Since an update to 1.6x Matomo (Piwik) is not tracking visits any more. The code is in the template of the theme and I can see it on pages which are online (Firefox:  strg + U) .

Anyone knows the reason for this and how to fix it?

It has nothing to do with CPG 1.6

Remove the misplaced <br>
