I REALLY REALLY need more mods to control my galleries, I have a lot of people helping me build an extensive database of pictures, but I can't do it alone, making all those albums myself and managing it.

I NEED more moderators!! I've implemented gallery with invision powerboard in the hope that the extra user control might help, but even global moderators don't get to go into approval, album and categoriesmenu.

Is there a way to take make other people moderators without giving them admin control to my forum?

If it must I'd just delete config.php, groupmgr.php, and banning.php! I don't need them anyway!

But can't I just break it so that lower admins can get to the albumscontrol? Where are the userrights being checked? please tell me. I don't mind missing the option to update because it's too important that i get more helpers

this has been requested before, and I understand your need; currently there's no such thing as moderators, super-users or sub-admins in coppermine; this can't be accomplished easily because the permission checking is all over the place - it would need a complete rewrite of coppermine.
The option you mentioned is the place to look for: disable config.php, groupmgr.php, and banning.php by CHMODing to R--R--R--. Test this before actually making people members of the admin group thorougly...

I understand it can't be accomplished easily, but don't you think it's wrong to hang on to the old design this way while there really is need for it. Especially when it comes to big galleries. And I do think coppermine wants to be able to handle big galleries too?

Hmm.. I don't want to make the members admin, but hack the admin check a bit, instead that it looks for the adminvalue (I do think it's some kind of ID that had to be verified?) that I change it to another value. If you could just say what that valuecheck is, then I can try to change it.

But just a questions, are there PLANS to implement this in later versions? Maybe 2.0?

yes, there are plans to have moderators in a future version, but nobody has begun this task yet. We're trying to get out cpg1.3.0 pretty soon: (the main reasons that keeps us from doing so is the current workload and the fact that we've committed ourselves to have multiple http uploads in the next version, and we haven't accomplished this yet).

Hey, this is my first post here. :)
Any news on having extra moderators in the gallery? I've tried everything i can - just can't figure out any solution.

I'm using 1.3.0 and noticed this feature hasn't been added yet...

How far away is the option for extra moderators?

The dev who intended to work on this has resigned due to personal reasons....

riiight. So, are there any plans to have someone else work on it? This is a very important feature.

I'd really like to see it, gallery moderation is far too much work for one admin to do - especially when you don't want to give up rights to the AdminCP in invisionboard to a moderator...

We cannot *have* someone work on it - people volunteer, no one has volunteered till now.

it stays on the todo list, but nobody can say if or when it will be done, that's all we can say. If you really need it, you're welcome to do it and post your hack.

I've got no idea where to start - but if i figure out a way, i'll let you know.
