When I click on the button "NEW" in Album Manager, there does not appear "New album" in the line that should be highlighted and changed. Nothing is changing at all when I click this "NEW"-button.
Could you please advise me how to change this? I am running version 1.3.1
Thanks for your appreciated help !

did you by chance disable JavaScript in your browser, or do you use a custom theme with a template.html file that doesn't contain <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts.js"></script>? Posting a link to your page might help, maybe together with a test user account (non-admin) with the permission to have a user gallery.

Thank you GauGau, for your very fast reply.
Should I DISable or ENable JavaScript in my browser?
The line <script type="text/javascript" src="scripts.js"></script> is correct in my custom theme template .html

Please if you would be so kind to have a look at my gallery to find out what seems to be the problem, I am very grateful to you. My gallery is at http://www.globalistics.com/gallery/index.php

Joachim Müller

enable JavaScript!
What about the test user account I asked you to post?

GauGau

Sorry, I forgot. Posted the needed info meanwhile.

You are writing under each of your messages:
Don't contact me for support over PM or email unless I requested you to do so. Instead: post on the proper board.

I definitively concluded from your remark, that "you requested me to do so".
Good reading is still very difficult. My apologies again.

clairobscur

GauGau, I do not understand what YOU mean with test user account. In my opinion I made one for you.

The test user account at http://www.globalistics.com/gallery/
The username is:  GauGau and the password is:  test

Thank you for your support !
Best regards

I was able to create an album just fine (see http://www.globallistics.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=22 ), so this is probably related to your browser's settings. Enable JavaScript in your browser, or use another browser.

I am really flabbergasted !  How did you do this !

I used as browser the new Maxthon browser (former MyIE). On your advice I uninstalled this browser and got back to Internet Explorer. In this IE I enabled EVERYTHING that possibly can be enabled (Java scripts, Active X, etc), just everything.
And still I am not able to make a new album !

Joachim Müller

With "another browser" I wasn't refering to "IE" opposed to "IE plus an add-on", but to a really different browser like "Mozilla Firefox" or "Opera".

Disable any third party software temporarily (virus scanner, personal firewall etc.) that might intefere with your browser to test if those apps are responsible for JavaScript not working.

What I did in answer to you suggestions:

I uninstalled and removed from my computer: NOD32, Kaspersky, Ad-Aware, Pest Patrol and Spybot and cleaned up the registry.
After that I installed Windows XP completely new again. Also then, I could not make a New Album in CPG.

Then I went again into the gallery with my browser IE and as soon as the Album Manager page was activated a small yellow error triangle appeared in my browser mentioning: Error on this page. Doubleclicking this sign it gave the following detailed message:

Line:          294
Character:    38
Error:         ';' is expected
Code:         0
URL:           http://www.globalistics.com/gallery/albmgr.php

After that on the Album Manager page, when I click the button New Album it is giving the same error sign with the details:

Line:          1
Character:    1
Error:         Object is expected
Code:         0
URL:           http://www.globalistics.com/gallery/albmgr.php

With this additional information, could you please advise me additionally?
Thanks for your appreciated help.

Joachim Müller

please do as I suggested: use another browser to check.

GauGau

Installed Opera: cannot make a new album either!
Same negative result as IE.

Joachim Müller

OK, let's check this the other way round: please create a screenshot of albums manager, highlight the areas you click on and describe in your posting exactly what you do - maybe you're not using the page correctly. Post the screenshot as attachment to your posting. Be as detailed as possible.

I made a clear serie of pictures with small mouse arrows in it to try to explain you as you requested. When I was ready with it I saw that I had made these Album Manager pictures while it was set in the Dutch language mode (my native tongue) and realized I should have done this for you in English.
So I clicked the English flag sign and clicked in the Album Manager screen on New Album again ....................and to my great, great, great surprise IT WORKED AND GOT THE NEW ALBUM !!

This explains why you succeeded in I did not! Oh my ***
So the solution is in my language pages?

Now the final line is in sight, I would like to thank you for your most admirable patience and  commitment!!

Joachim Müller

This happens when using a language file that has incorrectly escaped JavaScript messages. Did you modify your language file? If not, what version is it (look into it with a plain text editor, check the coppermine version and $ID and post it here, or attach the whole file (rename it to dutch.txt before) to your posting.

GauGau

clairobscur

To be honest Gaugau....... I changed it because it is written in confusing and absolutely incorrect (and this is explicitely NOT a matter of taste or appreciation: I am a translator and language corrector by profession) Dutch, that I simply HAD to change it.
And as you and I know now, made indeed a mistake where a JavaScript message was corrupted.

I would like to apologize to you for all the hurly-burly and commotion I caused with these adjustments.
GauGau, thanks again !

Joachim Müller

You could give something back to the coppermine community by posting your revised translation. Pease post what version your translation is based upon, as there have been severe discussions about the dutch language file in the past. I would ike to find out what version you report to be incorrect - as I don't speak dutch, so I can't tell a good translation from a bad one.

GauGau

clairobscur

I just threw away my translated but "corrupted" version and am using the old one again ( $Id: dutch-utf-8.php,v 1.6 2004/06/11 09:20:05 tarique Exp $ ) but promise you here, that I will make a new one. I owe you that.

Please give me a few days to accomplish this. Let me know how I get this version to you.
