Can't Batch Upload

I click on batch upload and get this message.

Select directory      
This function allows you to add a batch of file that your have uploaded to your server by FTP.

Select the directory where you have uploaded your files

I've already have a new folder under 'userpics' and it's on 777, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong....

The problem is that you put the folder in userpics. Upload photos in to folders in albums, but not in userpics. That is in the documentation. Please review it.
