My host does an autoinstall of Coppermine upon request (as well as phpBB2, which is installed and functioning) and has installed Coppermine using it's own mySQL DB. I wish to integrate Coppermine with the forum, can I just edit the config.inc.php to steer Coppermine towards the existing phpBB mySQL DB? Will this wharf anything or will Coppermine just use the contents of the phpBB DB as if it were installed that way in the first place?

If this isn't possible, how do I go about integrating the gallery with my current forum? Am I stuck uninstalling the autoinstalled gallery and d/l'ing/installing the latest Coppermine version myself and telling it to use the existing phpBB mySQL DB upon installation?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance  :)

My hosting provider has an autoinstall of phpBB 2.0.9 and CPG 1.2.1... I altered the config.inc.php file as you mentioned and all is working just fine... just don't forget to go into the Groups in CPG as mentioned in the install

Thanks Firavel
I presume you still had to edit the bridge file and add the cpg_redir.php as well for password integration?
I was mainly concerned that changing the Coppermine DB path after installation would harm the phpBB DB (which is an active forum) or cause Coppermine to cease functioning at all. Doesn't the Coppermine install place info in the DB that would be necessary for it to function?

After reading the extensive list of improvements in v1.3.2 I decided to delete the autoinstalled v1.2.1 and start with a fresh install using the phpBB DB. Installation was extremely easy and the gallery was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Thanks for a fine piece of software.  ;D
