Title: login works, logout does not
Post by: phryl on September 20, 2004, 09:49:34 PM
i'm stumped. CPG 1.3.2 & vbullein 3.03 integration. Cookie files prefix both set to ""

Once i login, i have access to both sites and integration works really well.

Once i try to logout, i get re-directed to the vbulletin logout page where i'm told the cookies have been cleared. Going back into the site; however, shows that i'm still logged in. Logging out from either site has the same net result.

What should i do?

Clear your cookies yourself with your browser and test it again.

All seems be working perfectly as far as I can see.

It seems like the problem is browser-specific. When using Firefox 1, I got the message that the cookie was cleared and when I went back to check, the link said 'login', as it should.

In IE 6, I got this error message when I tried to log out:
Quote from: vBulletin MessageAn error occurred while attempting to log you out. Click here to log out.
Then when I clicked, it said all cookies cleared.

I went back and I was not shown as logged in.

Interesting that this may be browser specific. I'm using IE 6.0.2

Any known issues around IE? Nearly 100% of my users are on IE, so it would be good to know if others are experiencing this same problem on other versions of IE.

I tried logging in again in IE to see if there was any cookie persistence. It still asked for me to log in, and when I logged out, there was no error this time around. In my previous post, I guess I didn't make it clear... although I got that error message, I did get logged out in both browsers.

Could there be some other (security) software that could be interfering with the process?

my browser is set to medium security - but i just installed security patch 2 for XP....so that's something to consider

Well, I have custom security settings, but I think they were based on Medium security. I'm also using SP2 for XP, so that necessarily isn't the culprit in and of itself.

I tested with IE and it worked fine, no error messages, even on maximum security. Due to being on dialup I'm still runing SP1.

Using Firefox 0.9.3 on Windows 2000SP4 I get "An error occured while attempting to log you out. Click here to log out". On the next page I get "All cookies cleared!
        * Return to the page you were previously viewing
        * Go to forums index
"
I really am logged out then.

Using IE6.0.2 on the same machine returns exactly the same results (same error messages, however I'm logged out finally). My security settings in IE are custom as well, but based on "low".

HTH to track down the problem.
