Title: Can't add files through batch add files
Post by: currahee on September 25, 2004, 02:51:21 AM
Well I upload my files under the albums directory (in a subdirectory called 'pix') and I go to the batch add files. I click on the folder 'pix' (it says not writiable) and then in "List of new files" I get "Warning: the script can't write in this directory, you need to change its mode to 755 or 777 before trying to add the files !"
Okay, so I go to configuration and under Default mode for directories I see that it had 777 so I type in 755. Nope, doesn't work.
A little assisstance please? ;)

Did you set the permissions for the directories correctly, according to the installation instructions?

Well i'm being free hosted by Astahost and I installed Coppermine through Fantastico... didn't have any problems with my last host that died soon
Hmmm could it be web protect or leech protect that's causing it?

Have you verified the directory you created has it's permissions set to 755 or 777?  Use your control panel to check.

Okay, I just checked now. Yes, the permissions on the whole entire directory is set to -> 755
???
Default mode for directories    should be 755 then
Default mode for files  should be 666.
Am I correct? because that's what I have in my config thing and it says "not writable" ??? >:(

Well, I suggest you contact Fantastico for help at this point.  We can't give very much support for the Fantastico builds as they are modified versions of the official releases.

If 755 did not work, try 777.  some servers require that for the folder to be writable.

Did you follow the documentation and not FTP your files into the userpics directory?
