Have you edited any files?  The common cause is blank spaces before <?php or after the final ?>.  Please search the forums before posting - you'll find this has been discussed before.

No, this is a tripod speciality: when hosted on tripod, they insert adverts to the file header, which means the header gets modified before coppermine can do the stuff it needs to do. Tripod sucks. Find another webhost. You can't use coppermine on tripod webspace.

If I bought a web hosting package, would the problem go away???

The problem here is the free webhost is injecting adds into the code and causing problems. Paid hosting wouldn't have ads, so you shouldn't have this type of problems. There's no guarantee that you won't have any other problems but at least they can be fixed, unlike this situation.

There are some free webhosts where coppermine can be run (with limitations) - refer to http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=5721.0
