Title: transfer gallery to new server solution and how to upgrade?
Post by: SonicFreedom on December 01, 2004, 01:33:35 AM
Hi, I need to move site to new server.

I found solution for gallery transfer here:
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=5048.0

My new host only offers v1.3.1 Coppermine
(same as old host)

Do I need to install Coppermine
at new host or is copying files enough?

How do I upgrade? I thought cpanel one click upgrade
would be there but not...or not yet.

Great gratitude for any responses, Tim  :)

Please read the documentation which will describe how to upgrade. http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php#13

Ok great. thank you. :)

Still would it be better to install latest v1.3.2 first
and then upload backup files over new install?

or is uploading backup files first enough and then to upgrade later?

Which way is best?

The best thing to do is export your Coppermine database tables from your old site and import them into your new site's database.  If they are identical (you haven't done any changes from the original), then you can just dump the data without the schema.  Once you import the new data perform the upgrade process on your new site.
