Title: Keeping track of Coppermine mods & tweaks?
Post by: mgraf on December 31, 2004, 02:08:52 PM
With a 1.4 release coming soon, I am wondering if there is a good way to "automatically" identify all of the tweaks and mods made to 1.3 files, to transfer them over to 1.4    I am assuming a 1.4 upgrade would wipe out most, all, or some of the changes to 1.3 files.   I have tweaked my gallery quite a bit from the 1.3 version as released (appearance items mostly).   I wasn't very dilligent in writing all of these things down.

Perhaps something like a Dreamweaver file compare?

Compare your cpg1.3.x install to the files from the unmodified cpg1.3.2 package (using a diff viewer like winmerge (http://winmerge.sf.net/); note down all changes you applied. All core files of coppermine will then have to be replaced when upgrading to cpg1.4.x. The theming system is still subject to changes, so there's no telling yet what the process for theme upgrades will be.
Please note that there is no official release yet for cpg1.4.x, so the available version comes without support (and the documentation still is incomplete): there will be detailed upgrade instructions once there is a release, so there's little point in asking such questions in advance.
