Title: Reverse md5 - Or find out who voted?
Post by: Raisingdad on January 15, 2005, 08:40:09 PM
Right,

I have this troublesome user who is going through all Images, and voting bad.

He is running up bandwidht and annoying the hell out of me, I got his username out of the database but its md5 - ed.

Is there any way to un-md5 it? Or find out who this user is?

Are you using a bridged version? CPG usernames aren't MD5-d

Yes.
Depending on the date, It was bridged with phpBB, now Invision.

Then you would need to ask for help in the Invision forums. When cpg is bridged, it's using the user tables of the bridged app.

Or you can simply delete his username out of the database if you are certain it is him. Then he can't log in.

Backup the table first.

Is it possible that search robots cause the voting?

[edit]
ah, found out who (what) was causing the problem;

Quote
[06/Aug/2005:01:26:56 +0200] "GET /ratepic.php?pic=2025&rate=0 HTTP/1.1" 302 11895 "-" "OmniExplorer_Bot/3.23 (+http://www.omni-explorer.com) WorldIndexer"

and also the google bot;

Quote
[07/Aug/2005:05:10:17 +0200] "GET /ratepic.php?pic=2839&rate=0 HTTP/1.1" 302 5 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"

[edit2]
Can it be solved using a robot.txt file?
