Title: Batch Adding Files
Post by: stormlifter on June 06, 2005, 01:44:57 AM
When I FTP my files to be batch added and then add them to the gallery through "Batch Add Files" the code creates files with the prefix normal and thumb.    Now I understand a need for thumbs and such, but aren't those supposed to be created on the fly by imagemagick?   I'm not sure, but if someone could clear this up for me that would be great.   I end up consuming twice the space of the file just from thumbs and normal files.

Also... I was wondering about the uploading process and if there was a way to avoid having to batch add files mutltiple times due to the timeout?   Is there a way to configure it to process like 10 at a time then move on automatically to the next? if not, we need a mod :)

Images are not created "on the fly" - it's a terrible waste of resources to constantly re-create images.  Maybe for a small gallery you don't notice it, but think of galleries with thousands of pictures and thousands of visitors.
