permissions issue: when right clicking, properties, you can get the url of your pics. Pasting the url into the address bar of the browser shows a "403 forbidden" error. This means that you haven't set permissions properly. Either CHMOD or undo your changes to .htaccess files you might accidentally have applied. Not related to the upgrade.

then ask you webhost for support, tell them you have a 403 forbidden.
Take http://www.alavigne.org/albums/captures/a-f/AccessHollywood32303/02.jpg as an example, which should be the pic embedded in http://www.alavigne.org/displayimage.php?pos=-1152 . It is broken, if you paste the url into the address bar of the browser, you're being sent to your start page, so there must be some strange .htaccess stuff in place somewhere. If you placed any .htaccees file, temporarily remove it and see if this cures your issues. If you haven't, ask your webhost for support as suggested.

I looked for an .htaccess somewhere and there was nothing. I contacted my host but he seems to be MIA for months now so I have no clue what to do. I went to cpanel and disabled hotlink protection but it turned out that it was already disabled. Should I put it in debug mode and see what it says?
