Title: Automatic display of category thumbnails
Post by: THoTH_2005 on July 07, 2005, 12:25:40 AM
Hi, love coppermine I run a Nuke site with a standalone install of coppermine 1.3.3

My sub categories thumbnails show, but the child albums of these sub categories only show intermittently.

For example I have a top category of paranormal, under that categories of ufo's, ghosts etc.. which if possible I'd like to also display the thumbnails of.  This is all from the home screen.  What's frustrating is that if I enable "show thumbnails for first level category", some do display the sub categories albums, but not all.  I use the vbulletin theme, but I've tried it on most themes with the same result.

Confusing I know, can anyone help.  Will send screen shots if necessary.

Have a feeling it's an option in a config file somewhere, but can't find anything.

a standlone install on a nuked site? I'm keen to take a look at this. When going to http://www.book-of-thoth.com/gallery.html I'm told I can't access without being a member. Post a test user account if you want support (and remember that there's no nuke support at all on this forum).

Realise theres no support for Nuke, which is why I made Coppermine a standalone. There's no integration. If you login with :

username: testuser  p/w coppermine you will see what I mean. Many thanks for your help, I don't think the Notify option is working here, which explains the delay in responding.

I failed to log in to your site using the credentials provided. Notify by email is off on this forum. If you actually have a standalone, post the deep link to the login page for coppermine.

Will do the trick, you'll see that some show the sub category thumbnails by default, others don't ?  ???

You're using the outdated version cpg1.3.2 - upgrade tp the most recent stable cpg1.3.3 and see if this cures your issues. Please post the results.

some do display the sub categories albums, but not all.
Did you specify a category thumbnail for all of them? By default, only albums have a thumbnail, categories only have a thumbnail if you explicitely specified one for them.

That seems to be the problem GauGau .... some categories don't allow me to select a thumbnail ?

you can only specify a category thumbnail if an album with pics in it exists directly within the category. If the category is empty or only contains sub-categories, you can't select a cat thumbnail.

Having real probs replying here, really slow board response  :\'(

Anyhow, found it all a bit confusing with all the categories I have, there's too many, an option might be to have a seperate category thumbnail folder or something, anyway... thanks for your help, I decided to go with BBcode text code links, which look quite effective. Not looked but if the img tag was, it would be a cool way to add buttons etc.. anyway.. repeated thanks. :)
