Title: EXIF not showing for all cameras
Post by: NetCritter on July 16, 2005, 06:44:09 PM
I've searched the forums here to see if I could figure this out, but I haven't seen the same issue posted yet. I don't think it's a Coppermine issue, but any info would be much appreciated.

A user on my site bought a new Pentax *ist camera and her EXIF info isn't showing up on her photos in the gallery. I checked the photos in Photoshop and the info is there. Other images from different cameras display the info just fine, it's just this one, so far.

Could the EXIF version her camera uses be different that what Coppermine supports?

I'm running 1.3.2.

Thanks,
Christine

EXIF is written into a JPG in a standard way. Some camera models have 'extra' EXIF information that they store into JPGs using there own encoding system. Only the camera and or it's accompanying software can decipher the 'extra' EXIF information. There are currently two EXIF specifications that CPG supports: EXIF 2.1 and EXIF 2.2. I would assume that the Pentax *ist camera supports EXIF 2.2.

If Photoshop is reading the EXIF out of yoru Jpgs, I would try to reupload them into the CPG gallery. Try dumping the exif table using phpMyAdmin so that CPG will re-read the EXIF information of your images.

Hope this helps,
