I am having a lot of trouble with my Coppermine Gallery. I uploaded a file and it doesn't show up. When I went to create a new album it won't allow me to. I don't know what is going on.

What error message do you get? Exactly how are you trying to create an album? As the admin in the album manager or as a regular user? If a regular user, have you allowed personal galleries?

How did you upload this file? Using your FTP client, uploading to a directory in the /albums directory but not in the userpics directory, then attempting to batch add the file? Or are you trying to upload a file as a regular user thru the web interface?

I uploaded the file as admin and used cuteftp to place it in albums. That is where I was told to place it.
This is the message I get when I try to upload a file:File: /hsphere/local/home/urbanlov/karl-images.com/coppermine/editpics.php - Line: 463
You have to create an album first before you can place any pictures in your gallery. Use the album manager to create an album. Then, use your FTP program to make a directory in /albums, but not in /userpics or /edit. Make sure the permissions are set at 777. Then batch add the picture to your album.
