Title: Using a local (testing) server,
Post by: sambob on August 15, 2005, 09:43:32 AM
I have set up a local server (Apache2Triad) so I can work on my site locally then FTP the site.

This (server technology) is new to me and I am wonder how to replicate my site locally as currently I have the server and dbase working but when I 'put' my entire remote site in locally, my images are not there (but they are in the necessary folder.

For CM to work I am assuming that all must be setup exactly the same (sql prticulary).  Do I need to rename my local dbase the same as I called it in the install.php page originally with the initial remote server?

Any pitfalls to doing it this way?

database connection details reside in include/config.inc.php
Either edit the local copy of this file, or make the mysql details of your local test server match the mysql details (db name, db username, db user password) of your production server.

All up and running....  but (there is always a but)...

When I try to access the site locally...  it will not access unless I disanble my firewall (inbound & outback loopback is enabled)

How do I configure (Norton Internet Security 05) to enable use of local host......

I have got no idea, I don't use this crappy software. It is famous to cause unwanted issues. There are better places on the web to look for support on Norton's infamous "security" package. Marking this thread as "solved"
