Title: Upload Blues
Post by: liamh on September 11, 2005, 10:52:35 PM
I have followed all the instructions given. I created the folders on my web server which is fully compliant with all the requirements - I already run a sql database with php etc.

When I try to run the install program from the expl;orer line the following message appears.

Not Found
The requested URL /coppermine/install.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.alliancephoto.net Port 80

I am sure it is something simple - please help.

Liam

Post the url to your Coppermine directory.

If your server's URL is www.alliancephoto.net, there is no /coppermine/ folder at the root of it...

Same request as kegobeer : Where did you upload coppermine ?

Alliancephoto.net looks like a lightbox setup, sort of a commercial version of Copperminem where "lightbox" is the equivalent to Coppermine's Favorites option. If that's the case, as a registered member there, you can create your own albums in the lightbox setup and upload pictures into it, but I don't think you can do a full install of a standalone gallery product like coppermine.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

My hosting company offers coppermine as a Fantastico Install - This is all automated and now I have it operating 100%. It would not load because of this.

The setup you see is in fact Pophoto which is a commerciaql type application which seems to be very similar to coppermine but has all the added features of Ecommerce built in. It does not allow alll the features that would enable third party pluguns which is why I wanted to install coppermine to offer this facility to alll my non commercial clients.

Thanks again for the time spent in replying to me.

we do not recommend fantastico installs at all. Make a "regular" install, using the coppermine package that can be downloaded from our site.

I am not sure what to do - The installation is working great. Could I have future problem?

By the way how to I add a solved post to the side - I do not seem to be able to find any documentation on the how to.

if everything is working fine for you, then you don't have to start from scratch and make an install of your own. However, if you should run into issues later, remind yourself of the recommendation not to use fantastico installs. It's safe to upgrade later when you actually experience errors. Marked this thread as "solved" for you.
