Title: NEwbIE - Install stump
Post by: STACK on October 03, 2005, 10:10:12 PM
ok, I've loaded all the files and such to my server.  Now I'm at the part where you create a name or something.  and fill in the blanks for mySQL Database Name. and the following information after.  I have no idea what to fill in those blanks.  my webhost support /friend is a little busy to assist me, so I came here.  Can someone please help get this done.

If your webhost can't provide the mysql info, nobody here can. You should look for another host who is available 24/7. If you have access to cpanel, you can create the database and user yourself.

DO you have access to Cpanel? if you do you have to go into mysql and create the database and user/name etc for the data base....

Follow your webhost's directions in creating a database.  Just an empty database without tables... Just make sure it has a name and password than run the coppemine/install.php script to have coppermine fill it with tables and such.

We don't do individual support, if defeats the idea of having a forum, where others could benefit from solutions you find.

I have had the same problems.
Coppermine is no longer offerend on my Cpanel / fantastico options.

I downloaded it and went thru the installation and get:

mySQL could not locate a database called 'bajanort_ensgallery' please check the value entered for this
In MySQL I did create the database named 'bajanort_ensgallery' and added a used to it yet the install does not set to connect.

localhost is the correct name where MySQL in on my service.

Anyway, I have spent lots of hours trying to get it to work.
I still have it working on other project of mine so i know it's possible.

Any tips where to go with this?
This seems to be a some common problem.

You are absolutely positive that is the correct name?  Follow the directions in this post (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=16217.msg75687#msg75687) to test the connection.
