Title: previous file could not be placed. you have successfully placed all the files
Post by: ckleiman on October 15, 2005, 06:53:19 PM
I just installed on my local server and working with program to get familiar prior to uploading to my web server. Oddly enough, I uploaded my first picture without problems.Now, however, I'm able to upload the pictures and see them in my albums/userpics/1001 directory, however, when I try to place them in the album it won't let me. Below is the error messaging;

you don't upload anything directly into the userpics directory. If coppermine places a picture into the userpics dir, then it's already in one of your albums.
If you want to use the batch upload tool then you create a subdir in the albums directory but you never touch the userpics dir. Please read the manual to learn more about uploading

I'm not doing this. All I'm doing is logging in and selecting upload file. I browse to the directory my file is located and the upload is successful. Then I continue to place in the album and here the image thumbnail is not visible. It's replaced by the generic jpg thumbnail with x. When I continue, here, is where I receive the "previous file could not be placed. you have successfully placed all the file message"

Also, the program seems to place the successfully uploaded images into the userpics/10001 subfolder by itself.

I hope this  helps. It's probably something simple, but, for the moment I'm stuck. Appreciate your assistance! Thanks.

Yes, I did read and followed instructions with same result.

However, I'm running this program on my laptop using my local apache server. My laptop's os in Windows XP so I'm unable to set folder permissions to 777 or whatever number necessary. All I can do is set the folder to be shared or not and I don't think this is applicable. Besides, I was able to upload my file successfully, so, I don't know why all the trouble now. I can't think of anything I may have done between the first successful upload and now that may have caused. I have made some changes in the config i.e. the title, my e-mail address and so forth. That's all. I've even reset to defaults to see if that may have been the isssue. It wasn't. Maybe, I'll try a reinstall.
