Title: Problems with MySQL
Post by: Sinte on October 17, 2005, 09:55:34 PM
Hi, I wanted to upload Coppermine on to my site, but I'm having problems with MySQL (mainly because I don't really know what it is  ;D).

MySQL Database Name
MySQL Username
MySQL Password

I'm not really sure what to put in those fields.  Where do I get my username and password from? Do I have to register somewhere? That's what I'm unclear on, so any help would be well appreciated.
Thanks :)

First you have to create a database at your webhost, if one has not already been assigned to you.
Just create an empty database with whatever database tool your webhost provides, usually phpMyAdmin, giving it a name, and  password.

And, that is what you would put into the fields.

Username is usually best left as 'root' unless instructed otherwise by your webhost.

Your domain is hosted by a webhost unless you are running your own server.  Usually your webhost provides you with a bunch of tools to design pages, create a database, etc.

if you have budget webhosting, you may not have mysql. As Dennis suggested: ask your webhost.
